Fourteen members of the banned CPI Maoist party
surrendered before the police at Narsipatnam in the district on
Saturday. According to the police, the Naxals gave themselves up due to
ill-health.
The cops claimed that the surrendered militants were responsible for felling trees at Lothugedda village during the bandh call given by the Maoists in October this year.
Meanwhile, the district police intensified the combing operations in the district and splashed the photographs and sketches of 40 most wanted Maoists operating in the G K Veedhi region in the strongholds of the Red rebels on Saturday.
