How to Spoof MAC Address in Windows

MAC spoofing is a technique for changing a factory-assigned Media Access Control (MAC) address of a network interface on a networked device.

The changing of the assigned MAC address may allow the bypassing of access control lists on servers or routers, either hiding a computer on a network or allowing it to impersonate another network device.

Hackers also spoof their MAC address to make them anonymous in the cyber space. You can always spoof your MAC address but can never change it. Means you can show to the network devices a spoofed MAC address but your actual MAC address always remained the same.

There are various ways of changing the mac addresses. Most of the Network Interface Cards(NIC) have options for it. To check this if your network card have the option for spoofing Network Address or not, follow the below given steps :

1.) Open Device Manger. Right Click on My Computer. Click on Manage. Then Click on Device Manager on left hand side tab. Or Goto Run and type "devmgmt.msc" without quotes. The Device Manager will be opened.




2.) Now goto the "Netwok Adapters" menu. It will list all the network adapters currently present in your computer. Right Click any adapter of which you want to spoof the IP and goto properties.



3.) Now goto "Advanced Tab" at the top and Find the Property "Locally Administrated Address" or "Network Address" in the List Given.



4.) It will have two options "Value" and "Not Present". By default Not Present will be selected, which means windows is using your default mac address.

5.) To change your Mac address, Type any 12 digit Hexadecimal(0-9,A-F) Mac Address and click Ok.



6.) Window will be refreshed several time and your MAC address will be spoofed successfully.

7.) You can verify that Whether your mac address has been spoofed or not by typing the following command at command prompt: "ipconfig /all".



Now goto the Adapter of which you have spoofed the Mac Address. There are several options like "Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection", "Wireless LAN Adapter Wireless Network Connection" or "Bluetooth Connection".

Now Look for "Physical Address" and you will see the Change.

8.) If you want to Restore your Original Mac Address, Then Follow all the Steps Above and select "Not Present" in Last option.

It may happen that the above process which i have described to spoof MAC Address will not be available for some network adapters. So I will provide you with a software to change the Mac Address in my next post.

Installing LAMP in Ubuntu

This tutorial is about installing lamp with a single command in ubuntu.For Newbie it is very helpful.LAMP actually stands for "Linux Apache Mysql PHP".This command will install apache,mysql and PHP and also automatically configure PHP on apache.Just Follow the Procedure Given

1.) Open terminal by pressing ctrl+alt+T or going to "Applications->Accessories->terminal".

2.) Write Command:sudo apt-get install tasksel.Enter your root password and package will be installed.

3.) Now to install LAMP Type:sudo tasksel and select LAMP Server




4.) During the installation you will be asked to insert the mysql root password

5.) After installation Type:localhost in your browser.If it shows following screen it means your apache is configured successfully.



6.)Now check if php is working, Type this in terminal :sudo gedit /var/www/test.php and add

7.) Save and exit. Restart Apache by writting following commnad: sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

8.) Now open browser and type : localhost/test.php




PHP is installed

Note: /var/www is directory where your website files are kept it is same as wwwroot in Windows IIS

Disable Task manager in windows

When you try to open Windows Task Manger, the following error may appear: "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator". Do you want to disable your task manager for security reason,Here is method to do that:

Method 1 :

1. Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> Write "Gpedit.msc" and press on "Enter" button.
2. Navigate to "User Configuration" -> "Administrative Templates" -> "System" -> "Ctrl+Alt+Del Options".
3. In the right side of the screen verity that "Remove Task Manager"" option set to "Disable" or "Not Configured". if you want to disable task manager then click on "Enabled".
4. Close "Gpedit.msc" MMC.

5. Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> Write "gpupdate /force" and press on "Enter" button.

How to create Windows 7/Vista Bootable USB

Normally we use Bootable DVD/CD to install or boot from windows but if you have your CD/DVD Drive damaged, then booting from USB is the Best options. Also it saves time as USB runs and install windows faster than Optical CD/DVD.

For Making Bootable USB of Windows 7/Vista, you must require Bootable DVD/CD of Windows or ISO Image. If you have ISO Image extract it to a Folder named "Windows" using Winrar or POWERISO.you must have a 4GB Pen Drive.

Follow the Given steps to Make Bootable USB :

1.) Run Command Prompt as Administrator. To do this, type in CMD in Start menu search field and hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. Alternatively, navigate to Start > All programs >Accessories > right click on Command Prompt and select run as administrator.




2.) Now Enter the Command : Diskpart to open Diskpart Utility.

3.) Now Enter Command : List Disk. It will Display all the Disks with their Disk numbers in the Format Disk # where # represent Disk Number. Identify your USB Drive from its Space and note down its Number which in my case is 1.

4.) Now Enter : Select Disk # where # is the Disk Number i.e. 1.

5.) No Enter the Following command one by one :

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION 1

ACTIVE

FORMAT FS=NTFS

(Format process may take few seconds)

ASSIGN

EXIT

6.) Now your Disk is formatted Successfully. You can also Format USB Manually by right Clicking it. Don't Close the Dos Prompt just Minimize it.

Now if you Have DVD of Windows 7 Then Follow the Below Steps :

i.) Insert Windows 7 DVD into the DVD Drive nad note down the Drive Letter of DVD. Which in my case is G:

ii.) Now Enter the Following Commands :

G: and hit enter. Where “G” is your DVD drive letter.

Now Enter : CD Boot

Then Enter : BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 I: Where I is your USB Drive Letter.

iii.) Now Copy Windows DVD contents to USB.

You have successfully made Bootable USB of Windows.

If you have ISO Image of Windows Extract it into a Folder on Desktop named "Windows" using Winrar or PowerISO and note down the full path of "Windows" Folder



Now enter the Following Command :

CD Where path for example is : CD C:\Users\Ishan\Desktop\Windows

Now Enter : CD Boot

Then Enter : BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 I: Where I is your USB Drive Letter.

iii.) Now Copy Windows Folder contents to USB.

You have successfully made Bootable USB of Windows.

Now Reboot your Computer and Use this Bootable USB To install Windows.

3. For about a minute, Windows 7 will examine the behavior of your laptop. It will then analyze it and create a report in HTML format in the folder you specified. Double-click the file, and you'll get a report . follow its recommendations for ways to improve power performance.

step ii. type "regedit" without quotes.

step iii. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall



step iv. click on any one of them and check "display name" .display name tells the installed program .

step v. delete the folder of the program which you want to uninstall .

Divide hard disk into partitions in Windows

In many cases we want to divide our hard disk into partitions, normally whole hard disk is shown as a single partition in new laptop/computer and people face many problem while partitioning hard disk, some format windows and some uses third party tools. Today I'll tell u a simple way to partition your hard disk in windows 7 without using any third party tool.just follow the procedure...

1.) Goto Start > Run > type "diskmgmt.msc" without double quotes.A window will open showing your current disk configuration.




2.) Right click on drive from which you want to use space to create new disk and choose "Shrink Volume". Assure that drive contain enough free space if you reduce that drive more than free space it have, then it may lead to loss of data.

3.) A Dialog box will open which states the limit in mb upto which you can shrink the drive and amount by which you want to shrink it. for example if you want to use 10 gb from your hard drive to create new partition then you can enter 10240 in "Enter the amount of space to shrink in mb"



4.) It will take some time and after it you will see that your hard disk configuration contain 10 gb free space titled as either "free space" or "Unallocated volume". Right click on it and choose "New Simple volume".



5.) A Dialog box will appear as shown in figure below ,Press next.



6.) Then enter the total size of disk to be created , normally it is equal to size of free space created so just press next without editing anything.



7.) After that it will prompt to assign drive letter to partition choose from list.and then Press Next.



8.) Now format the drive using NTFS and press next. it is the default selection.



9.) Now press finish and exit.



Goto My computer and you will see a new partition created.

Note : Some manufacturers limit the no of partitions and minimum space in your root partition(root partition is one in which your operating system is installed). So in that case you may not be able to create as many no. partitions of your choice and your choice of size.

The df command report file system disk space usage including file names and directory names. The syntax is as follows:

In this example find out partition name for a file called /users/f/foo/file.txt, enter:

Sample outputs:

The above command indicates that the file called "/users/f/foo/file.txt" belongs to /dev/sda5 partition. The following command only shows partition name:
