Role Summary/Purpose

As a member of the Magnetic Resonance (MR) modality, the Visualization Software Engineer has responsibilities extending to the development of MR systems software.

Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Work with a cross functional team consisting of technical leaders, MR domain experts and other software engineers to develop new platform, clinical applications and/or serviceability features for various GE MRI product lines. You will : 
o Learn MR Visualization application development frameworks (Functool and READY View) and get accustomed to develop applications using these frameworks.
o Participate in high/low level design discussions as applicable;
o Develop and integrate software platform/application components into the system in accordance with the software development policies and procedures. 
o Perform verifications at component level; assist in sub-system level verification as required.
o Document requirements, designs, verifications and other key development activities in accordance with established GE Healthcare and local quality processes.
• Maintain legacy software modules; address installed base product quality issues as required.
• Interact with global teams to promote consistency in development practices, tools and methods and maximize synergies with common software platforms.

• Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
• Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
• Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
• Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
• Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related computer field.
2.
Demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ and/or Java programming. (UNIX environment will be a plus).
3. Good grasp of basic image processing, 3D graphics, visualization and data structures. 
4. Basic understanding of Object Oriented Design (OOD) and Programming (OOP) concepts and Unified Modeling Language (UML).

Desired Characteristics

1. Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related computer field
2. Experience software development in Diagnostic/Interventional medical device industry.

7. Familiarity with industry software development practices, tools and environments –
a. Software development lifecycle from requirements to system integration. 
b. Configuration Management systems – Concepts and tools: ClearCase, CVS or equivalent
c. Defect tracking tools and processes – Concepts and tools: DDTS or Clear-Quest or equivalent
d. Debuggers – Concepts and tools: gdb, ddd, totalview or equivalent. 
e. Software Builds – Concepts and tools: Imake/make or equivalent.
