HYDERABAD: Legislators T Rajaiah and S Satyanarayana, who submitted their resignations in support of the Telangana cause, held one-on-one meeting with assembly Speaker N Manohar on Wednesday.
Though details of the conversation have not been made public, it is reliably learnt that only Rajaiah reiterated his resolve to quit the assembly. Rajaiah, who was elected on a Congress ticket from Station Ghanpur, recently joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Rajaiah confirmed that he had informed the Speaker about his intention to resign for the Telangana cause.
"Though I stand by my resignation, I have left it to the Speaker's decision. If he does not accept my resignation, I will participate in the winter session of the assembly and raise the issue of Telangana," he said. Independent legislator S Satyanarayana from Ramagundam has requested the Speaker not to accept his resignation. The Ramagundam MLA said since he won as an independent, there was no need for him to resign.
Meanwhile, TRSLP leader E Rajendar asked the Speaker to be impartial while dealing with resignations of MLAs. "How can he be selective in accepting the resignations of MLAs? He should have first dealt with the resignations of Congress MLAs sailing with Jagan," said Rajendar.
