HYDERABAD: A day after
custody of Bharat Bhai, who was named an accused in the 2007 Mecca
Masjid blast case, was granted to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a petition was moved before the Nampally Criminal Court on Wednesday requesting it to review the earlier order.
Speaking to TOI, N Ramachader, the counsel for Bharat Bhai, said that he filed the petition since his client was not given an opportunity to defend himself in court.
"The court asked the NIA officers to file a counter by Thursday. Usually, video conference facility is used to extend remand, but in this case both remand and granting of custody was done via this facility. Bharat Bhai should be given an opportunity to defend himself,'' Ramachander said.
