HYDERABAD: A 17-year-old
boy slit his throat due to unrequited love in Secunderabad on Wednesday
afternoon. His condition is said to be stable.
According to Chilakalguda police, the boy, a class X student of open school located at Bouddha Nagar, was attracted towards a 15-year-old girl from the neighbourhood. The girl is a class IX student of a private school in Sitapalmandi. For a month, the boy had been calling on her father's phone and harassing the family, police said.
On Wednesday afternoon, he went to the girl's school and waited outside. "When the girl came out during lunch time, he approached her and declared his love for her. Scared by his behaviour, the girl ran away. The boy immediately pulled out a blade from his pocket and slit his throat," Chilakalguda inspector B Anjaiah said.
Alerted by locals, police rushed to the spot and shifted the boy to Gandhi hospital. His condition is said to be stable. A case was booked against the boy under section 309 (Attempt to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
