Ambala cops try to impress Manu Sharma, convict in Jessica Lal murder case

AMBALA: The wedding reception party of Ambala City MLA Venod Sharma's son saw many policemen and district administration officers in attendance in Sector 8, HUDA ground, on Thursday. Many were seen impressing Manu Sharma, a convict in Jessica Lal murder case and son of the MLA.
Police force from five neighboring districts was called a day before the function. The district administration officials left no stone unturned to prove their loyalty towards Sharma and were seen serving in the 'pandal'.
The reception party looked more like a political rally, with thousands of people from every village under Sharma's constituency invited. Even auto-rickshaw drivers and rickshaw-pullers were there.
As the reception began around 11:30 am, everybody was looking for Manu, with many speculating that he might not appear before the public.
But after 2 pm, Manu in a white kurta-payjama reached the VVIP section where a number of VIPs including BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi and Aasha Hooda, wife of CM Bhupinder Hooda, were having lunch. Police personnel in plain clothes were seen around Manu, praising his humility. On noticing him, a number of old loyalists of Sharma from nearby villages of Ambala hugged him.
Manu too talked in rural dialect to please the rural supporters of his family. When some family loyalists asked about his well-being, he laughed loudly and said, "Mai ek dam changa hun". There were many wanting a picture with him.
Of the district administration officials, SDM Mukesh Ahuja was seen standing at the gate of VIP 'pandal' and district senior sanitary inspector Rishi Raj Gautham was carrying a bowl at lunch stand. Besides, DC Shekhar Vidyarthi and DCP Shasank Anand, too, spent some hours in the 'pandal'. However, the DCP said with many VIPs there, he was present for security reasons.
Joshi, leader of opposition who is related to Sharma, had come along with some of his family members, who were seen talking to Manu.
