HYDERABAD: Alarmed by the fake claim of attack of communal nature by a youth, Mohammed Junaid,
in the Old City earlier this week, police are cross-checking facts
before registration of complaints and issuing FIRs in cases of similar
nature.
The Shah Inayat Gunj police that had refused to entertain the November 17 complaint of one Rashed Khan of Bagh-e-Jahan Ara issued an FIR on Wednesday following the reported intervention of West Zone DCP Stephen Ravindra after he spoke with the victim.
According to Khan, he was attacked at Ghode ki Khabar by four unknown persons while returning home late night. Police did not register a case and sent him for medical examination to OGH. Police maintained that the marks on Khan's body resembled that of a road accident and not assault by any sharp weapon.
But Khan maintained that he was attacked by assailants who had asked his name. Police registered the case under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) of IPC.
The police also issued another FIR in the attack of Md Ateeq, 25. The victim said he was attacked by four unknown persons.
